Dear Dwayne Haskins, Please Delete Your Social Media for Good

So let me start off by saying I like Dwayne Haskins. I would love for him to grow into the franchise QB in Washington. Everything seems like It's lined up..Big time college QB, big arm, likeable guy, and not to mention a local to the DC area. Clearly an inspiration to kids all over the DMV.

Here's where the fairytale goes sour..

In his rookie season DH struggled..which was expected. In all honesty, Jay Gruden and the front office didn't give Haskins a real chance to succeed. No fault of their own of course..They were simply looking for their own slim chance to retain their jobs after years of mediocrity. The problem is they drafted a QB in the first round in a make-it-or-break-it year.

With a new offense, new locker room, average teammates and the pressure of being a 1st Round Pick..Things just snowballed into another trash heap season for Washington. Dwayne had his moments, and fellow OSU rookie Terry McLaurin showed promise at receiver. But Haskins was NOT ready to be thrown into an NFL game yet.

2019: 9 games | 58.6 pct | 1,365 pass yds | 6.7 ypa | 7 pass TD | 7 INT | 101 rush yds | 0 rush TD | 2 fumbles lost

DH Struggling in 2019 wasn't about talent, It's about the fact that being a rookie quarterback in live action is like walking into a category 5 hurricane. Dwayne's head was probably spinning so we don't put much stock into stats from 2019.

What we WILL put stock into is him telling the press he stayed away from social media after his 4 turnover performance last week. Call me crazy, but I've been saying he should do this since he was drafted.

It's a little bit of a red flag when you're QB is tweeting out guys from his school he wants his team to draft, or any player for that matter. I'm a firm believer there are levels to a team, and a player should not influence the team to draft ANYONE. Especially if you've done nothing in the league yet.

Fast forward through the first 3 weeks of the 2020 season Dwayne has been up and down, but mainly down after Week 1.

2020: 3 GP | 625 yards (25th) | 56.4% (32nd) | 4.2 avg CAY (33rd) | 4 TDs (T-20th) | 3.0 INT% (23rd) | 15.89 OVM (33rd) | 27 rush yards (T-21st) | 0 rush TDs (T-13th)

Out of 32 quarterbacks, he ranks towards the bottom of the league in most categories. We won't get into the nitty gritty of the numbers right now, just trust me know the advanced stats aren't great. Again, we know he doesn't have much to work with on offense right now.

Regardless of who he was going to line up with in 2020, all offseason Haskins showed the incredible transformation of his body, losing close to 10% body fat! That's pretty insane, definitely got the fanbase pumped up, and the national media started to increase expectations.

I promise I'm getting to the point..

I think he bit off more than he could chew this offseason. Sure, we are in trying times and Covid didn't do him any favors with a new coaching staff or offseason prep, but does he need to post a video every time he works out?

Should I start making highlight tapes of me at the grocery store?

Dwayne, when you make yourself look sick in these instagram videos, it raises expectations. Just chill out man. The tweets about everyone sleeping on you, being "pissed off for greatness"..I love it. I'm here for that. But do it AFTER you do something..anything. Just..please..not after a dope throwing sesh with the boys in February.

Not to mention when he tweeted at Washington rookie and fellow OSU Buckeye Chase Young "See you soon" 3 months before the NFL Draft. It should be noted Dwayne wasn't the starting quarterback yet under Ron Rivera..

To wrap it up, just delete it all Dwayne. It's not worth it! Take a page out of Alex Smith's book and just have no social media. Less stress, less pressure you put on yourself, and ultimately less headlines. With everything going on in Washington..it's probably for the best. This might be a rocky season. Shut.It.Down. It broke RGIII, it could break you too.

Here's to hoping he throws 30 touchdowns a year, wins more than he loses, and makes sure me and everyone else notice along the way.
