After Tough Loss, Washington is on to Cincinnati

Well THAT wasn't a fun loss. Let me tell ya..I've seen many L's in my time around these parts. I can say without a doubt that was a top 10 worst loss.

It felt like the script of a movie playing out. Alex Smith's first start back is wild to begin with, but leading a game-tying drive after being down 21 points was pretty amazing when you think about the last couple years for that guy..Golf claps for him and the training staff.

Then there's that plot twist you hope doesn't happen...

Matt Stafford (yet again) leads a game-winning drive against Washington in final :16. The Lions only needed 16 seconds!

30 4th quarter comebacks, 37 game-winning drives. Truly the most underrated QB of his era.

During the final seconds of the game, Chase Young was penalized for a roughing the passer penalty on the final drive. A penalty that most would say lost Washington the game. You be the judge if this is a 15 yard penalty with the game on the line:

Nonetheless, Chase not only apologized to Head Coach Ron Rivera but admitted his mistake to the media.

"I hit him too hard, I guess..Rookie mistake. It happens."

Rivera called the play a teaching moment for the rookie DE.

As a gambling man I'm willing to bet Chase Young doesn't commit a game-losing penalty again. Feel free to post this on "Freezing Cold Takes" if I'm wrong.

As far as the offense is concerned.. Alex Smith is playing good. His stats look decent over the last 2 games aside from his turnovers vs the Giants.

Unfortunately, he has not generated wins for a team in desperate need of them. Washington is on the brink of elimination. If Smith can't string together a few wins to stay alive in the playoff race, we could very well see Haskins inserted into the lineup again.

Washington is onto Cincinnati, and they are taking playoff hopes with them.
